Salute is the sixteenth original album by Canadian musician Gordon Lightfoot, released in Warner Brothers Records. It barely registered on the charts and is one of his least-known recordings. Consequently, songs from the album very rarely feature in Lightfoot's live performances. However, he had never completely abandoned his folk roots, as "Whispers of the North", "Knotty Pine" and "Tattoo" show. In general, the album was more upbeat than its introspective predecessor with even greater use of electric guitar licks and synthesizers.
Shadows is Canadian singer Gordon Lightfoot's fifteenth original album, released in on the Warner Brothers Records label. It peaked at 87 on the Billboard charts. The album marked another significant turning point in Lightfoot's musical evolution. He moves further away from his acoustic roots through greater use of synthesizers and electric organ. The album is softer in composition than its immediate predecessors with a return to slower, more introspective ballads as compared to the faster, country style of Lightfoot's mids albums.
